Mosaic wall

This is the second summer that I have been working on The Wall. Ready to be done. lol! When I started, I carefully cut and planned where to neatly add each ceramic piece. Before long, I merely dropped plates on the ground, gathered the largest pieces, slathered cement on the back and willy nilly stuck them on a blank spot. Now, as the end is within sight, I am again attempting to carefully fill in the many blank spots with small ceramic and stone bits. I don't know if I will complete this before the snow falls, but I am optimistically confident that this project will be completed...eventually.

Drying Heads

Making paper mache pumpkins or will they be snow people?

Mashed up a bunch of shredded and torn, recycled papers

Added a bit of glue and dap

Covered a couple of balloons with the mixture

Let them dry

Added some more of the paper mache concoction

Drying again

They turned into jack-o-lanterns. Boo!

Still love those eucalyptus leaves. Am always amazed when the green leaves and blossoms turn a shade of red in the steamer.

Forgot I had a blog. 

Still making scarves.

You know, one of my favorite parts of the dyeing process comes at the very end, when I take the completed scarf, thoroughly wash and rinse it and then....drumroll, please...I iron the scarf. The colors and prints are so clear. I can see everything as I iron. 

Ignore the mess

Top photo shows items dyed in madder root hanging to dry. It also shows, on the table, two sets of leaves sandwiched between scarves with one set rolled around a dowel. 

Middle photo shows the unrolling of steamed scarves taken out of the turkey roaster. 

Leaves have been peeled away in the bottom photo and prints of oak leaves and eucalyptus are visible.

Painted Snowpeople

Made out of gourds, paper clay and paint, these little snow people are.

Snowman Season

These little guys are ready to be painted. One of my favorite things to do...add paperclay to gourds (these I grew years ago) and then paint them. Tis the season for snowwomen and snowmen!

Where did the squirrel go?

This is a paper mache' head that I made a while ago. 

It fell off the wall when a crazy squirrel got into the house, ran up and around the walls and at one point landed on this horse head that was hanging on the wall. 

The head fell to the floor and needs a bit of repair. It is covered in the words from the book, Black Beauty, which fortunately has a lot of words, so I have more pages to cover it with,.  

The squirrel?

We never saw him again. 

I don't really know that the squirrel was crazy, but he shouldn't have been in my house.

Adding more to the pages and looking for just the right leaf to jazz up the cover. 

Dried Flowers and Leaves in Resin

One of my sons hand-makes wooden paddles and covers them with resin.

When he does a resin pour, he often saves just a bit of resin, for me to use in the blank bezels, that I've purchased for making jewelry. 

This summer I started drying small leaves and flowers to preserve in resin necklaces, which is why there are so many books filled with Queen-Anne's-Lace or ferns in my house.

I made some notebooks from cloth and paper . 

Geranium and eucalyptus and sumac and rose and catalpa leaves are all here. 

Most all of the pages are blank, but I did add a print here and there.
